Organising legal seminars and debates

Debates of great social impact
We welcome the challenge of organising debates of great social projection and impact that also provide quality information.
Debate is a very underrated format on the current cultural scene. The media often present socially important debates that do not present information in a thorough enough way. Such high-level debates are generally restricted to the university senate or other equally reduced circles.
We believe that the way to generate quality debate is to choose topics that arouse social interest and debaters who can present opinions with authority. Once we have taken care of these two factors, our efforts will be focused on disseminating the debate in the most appropriate format.

Permanent Seminar in Legal Culture
Seminars are a university activity in which a group of participants interested in a particular topic are invited to hear a presentation on that subject and then debate it. The traditional way to organise an academic seminar often leads to an exchange of opinions between specialists in the issues under debate.
The Chair in Legal Culture intends to maintain this format, but to do it overcoming the limitations  that academic inertia often installs: even though the traditional idea will be maintained if the conditions support this model, the debate will be held, whenever possible, beyond the University, adopting the format of a conference, so that the stays of important legal experts at the UdG have beneficial social impacts.

A debate in various formats
Every debate topic needs to be projected in its own way; in addition to the quality of the participants and of the information provided, the success of our project is partially contained in the flexibility of the means of disseminating debate topics. International, national or local forums, popular or more technical publications, the different means of communication and Internet discussions are among the means we will use so the debates organised by the Chair have social impact.
